Company you should know: Podchaser
Bradley Davis, the founder of Podchaser, came across the idea while working as a door-to-door salesman in Louisville. He frequently listened to podcasts and found the experience to be hit or miss and thought there should be some form of rating system. (For the full backstory see the article linked below)
Bradley moved to Oklahoma because he wanted to be a part of the growth story of the state. He saw the potential for Oklahoma to go from a mid-size city city to something much bigger, and saw the chance to be part of that story (in addition to the draw of cheaper real estate prices here).
Podchaser was founded in 2016 by a small team of like-minded podcast enthusiasts who met via a humble Reddit thread, with the optimistic goal of creating the ultimate, platform-agnostic podcast database.
Since then the company has grown substantially and now consists of developers, designers, data moderators, user supporters, project leads, content creators, advisors and interns from all across the world, focused primarily between the US, Australia, and the UK.
Recognized by the podcast industry as the leading podcast database and a central source of podcast and creator information, Podchaser now powers several apps and websites through a powerful podcast data API, while also providing extensive and accurate insights for thousands of podcasts through the Pro Service.
